The forum-soft launch of Reimagining Sustainability in commemoration of Isagani Serrano’s 6th Anniversary on February 28, 2025 at the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Abucay Campus was both heartwarming and memorable.

The grandchildren rendered a favorite Beatles song of Gani, Let It Be, followed by Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement (PRRM) President and RISe Vice Chair Ed de la Torre’s sharing of what the book was about.
Then a symbolic unveiling of the book image was undertaken followed by the reading of Gani’s poems by grandniece Alika Amora (Clouds Over Negros) and son Karl Serrano (My Children They Are Dreamers).
A higlight was the sharing of perspectives and reactions on what Reimagining Sustainability meant by CSI Earth President Diana Buensalida, BPSU Student Regent Kyle Soldevilla, RISe and PRRM-Bataan representative Greg Rodis and Foundation for Philippine Environnent (FPE) Executive Director Jerome Montemayor.
A special song number by the BPSU students was followed by the sharing of student leaders from CSI Earth, Earth Savers, ICTUS Society and Young Bean that Gani’s life and writings are resonating and inspiring them not only to reimagine sustainability but also to pursue initiatives towards a sustainable future.
RISe President Marie Lisa Dacanay ended the program expressing how the book’s publication is an important milestone in promoting Gani’s legacy while also thanking the publishers (PRRM and RISe), the book project team, FPE as enabler, the organizers of the event (RISe, PRRM-Bataan, BPSU RICCCS and CSI Earth) and everyone who joined specially the youth and student leaders who comprised the bulk of the participants.
