Book Launch: Reimagining Sustainability
Last July 12, the book, REIMAGINING SUSTAINABILITY was launched at PRRM Penthouse, Quezon City. The RISe organizers thanked their family and friends who joined the launch of Reimagining Sustainability, Gani’s book on environment, climate and social justice and sustainable development.
In addition, the following were specially thanked: MCs Toni Serrano-Soriano and Joseph Purugganan; PRRM Chair Erin Tanada who opened the program; RISe President, Book Editor and Co-Project Director Marie Lisa Dacanay for giving an overview of the book; Dr. Walden Bello for sharing on the Prologue he wrote; RISe Chair Leonor Magtolis Briones for her thoughts on Gani and Learning and Striving Towards Sustainability; Bong Ramilo and Village Idiots Catherine Tiongson, Joseph Purugganan and Atan Ronquillo for the cultural numbers; Jenna Serrano and Karl Serrano as poem readers; PRRM Executive Director and book project co-director Marlon Palomo for his thoughts on Gani and Sustainability Needs Poverty Eradication; FPE Interim Executive Director Louie C. Tesalona-Parungao for sharing on Gani and Sustainability Needs Clinate Justice; Atty. Tony La Viña for sharing on the Epilogue he wrote; PRRM President and Book Editor Edicio Dela Torre for Remembering Isagani R Serrano as Visionary and Transformational Leader; and the Grandchildren for leading the community singing of Gani’s favorite song Imagine.









































They also thanked Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement for co-publishing the book with RISe; Foundation for the Philippine Environment for supporting the publication; PRRM-Bataan Chapter led by Rosalie V. Ona and PRRM-Metro Manila Chapter led by Gio Paolo Espital and Eileen Matute, PRRM National Office staff Kai Santos, Andee Javier, Divine F. Tapec for their contributions and role in organizing the book launch together with Village Idiots and volunteers Dolly Villardo Marcial, Therese Santiano.
Lastly, they thanked the book project team — the editors and co-directors, Sharon Taylor as copy editor and project associate, Amy Tejada as book cover and lay-out artist, and Divina Grace Go as finance assistant. Thank you to Focus on the Global South, PRRM alumni and RISe friends for their donations. The Good Food Community served as caterer for the sumptuous, healthy dinner during the said event.

Isagani Serrano: The Philippines’ ‘little prince’

Isagani Serrano was the Philippines’ own ‘little prince,’ a martyr for sustainable development, peace, and civil rights. He was recognized by the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation on November 30.
